Implementing LEED

The LEED Green Building System encompasses a tremendous amount of planning between the Owner and the Design Team, and some of the credits can actually be earned before a single shovel of dirt is moved. There is so much emphasis put on the actual design of the project, that the program itself, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, uses design in it's name. The design is certainly not to be taken likely, but the real work, and where all the responsibility lies in achieving LEED Credit Points, begins, and ends, with the Construction Process.

Utilizing Recycled Content

The recycled content material of a particular product MUST be provided from a reliable, verifiable source, and must be identified as a percentage of the total weight of said product. There are two different types of recycled content and it must also be distinguished between post-consumer (generally waste generated by consumers) and pre-consumer (generally waste generated by manufacturing). Additional product information must include a description, the manufacturer, and cost.

 

The total cost for all construction materials must also be provided.
